I plan to join a new company that doesn't currently offer a 401k and I have funds in my old employersemployer's 401k. I was thinking I would move the funds to something like Betterment who would do a 401k to Traditional IRA conversion.

My question is, once it is there, if I have the opportunity to move it into a 401k in the future, am I allowed? Will I get penalized? I don't want to get it locked into the Traditional IRA, but I also don't want my funds to sit in the old 401k. Is there an alternative?

After moving a 401k to a Traditional IRA, can I move it back out to another 401k?
