Reduced claim to "some products" because the shown research is actually only a single product and replaced cheap with "cheaper than elsewhere" to be more specific.

Sep 27, 2018 at 1:45 | comment | added | Fattie | They are "gray" products - it's that simple. Note that on Amazon itself, you can very easily buy those headphones for 60-80 .. if you simply selected the Amazon 'reconditioned' section .. which is how Amazon dumps "gray" products. Just the same. No need to go to eBay.
Sep 26, 2018 at 18:46 | comment | added | Eric Lippert | A question that asks how something is "possible" is unclear. No law of humanity or physics is stopping two markets from having two different prices for a good, so it's not clear why you think it ought not to be "possible". What are you really asking? Are you asking how Ebay sellers can afford to sell at such a low price? (Hint: they are probably still making a profit.) Are you asking why Amazon doesn't just buy up products from Ebay and sell them at a higher price? What are you really asking here? I cannot figure out what this question is actually about.

Sep 26, 2018 at 6:58 | comment | added | NoDataDumpNoContribution | Actually I do think the question exaggerates the price difference. It's much lower in my experience, but on the other hand I never experienced quality problems or fraud on Ebay. Maybe my local Ebay is different from the one of the question asker.
Sep 26, 2018 at 6:49 | comment | added | NoDataDumpNoContribution | "60-75 if you take part in an auction" But then they are used, which is not the same as new, or aren't they?

Sep 25, 2018 at 20:24 | comment | added | Eric Lippert | The question is strange. Why would I buy something on Ebay for more than I would pay on Amazon? I would only buy something on Ebay for less than I would pay on Amazon, as Amazon is safer and more convenient. Since no sensible person would pay more, then prices have to be less on Ebay for any sale to occur. Can you explain why you think prices should not be lower on Ebay?

Sep 25, 2018 at 13:52 | comment | added | MonkeyZeus | Take your pick: the item's condition is not accurate, the item is stolen, the item which gets shipped is a knock-off, It could be a scam (ebay accounts get hacked all the time and hackers post items which cause people to feverishly buy and when the item never arrives or is a literal box of rocks then it can be impossible to get results through ebay's resolution center), the item being sold is an older model, or in the best of cases the seller just really wants to get rid of the item or the vendor is seriously overstocked.
