Apr 23, 2018 at 12:45 comment added Martin Bonner supports Monica @VolkerSiegel: Quotation marks is one of the things that are most variable between countries. An initial lower quotation mark like „this“ is typographically correct in German. In British English, I would use “this” style (and the French do it like «this»). Computers often use straight quotes like "this" - because that is all ASCII has.
Apr 23, 2018 at 10:19 comment added NoDataDumpNoContribution "...because you only pay taxes when you take it out, and if you leave it in, the ‘taxes‘ produce further income in future years before you pay them...." That actually depends on the jurisdiction you are in. In my area by bank automatically reports fictive yearly earnings to the financial authorities even if I do not withdraw any money.

Apr 20, 2018 at 10:15 comment added Aganju @Clonkex , yes, it’s the keyboard, it came with iOS 9.3, and I hate it, it’s called ‘smart quotes’. I have to find out how to get rid of it, it automatically changes it always to a lower quote.
Apr 20, 2018 at 9:56 comment added Volker Siegel @Clonkex I think it's the opposite: ‚taxes‘ is (almost) typographically correct, and "taxes" is a simplification for computer and typewriter keyboards. My keyboard does not even have the lower double quote.

Apr 19, 2018 at 18:51 comment added jpaugh "beating inflation would already be an accomplishment" This reads as if it is difficult to beat inflation in the stock market, which is not true for long-term investing.
