The internet has changed that but still I wouldn't know who to ask for placement advices since most advisers (that I can afford) are specialized in what is available for their current country, and sometime offer me stuff that will not follow me if I were to change country.

A good answer might also offer a way to refine it a bit more, but surely there are some general strategies that a world employee can use as guidance. Obviously each country will be different, but I want to believe an international worker would have a summary list of things to be mindful of.
