Sep 26, 2018 at 13:46 comment added royhowie @AnoE It is because of the Universal Postal Union. This WaPo article explains it.
Sep 26, 2018 at 8:19 comment added Harper - Reinstate Monica @FakeName ah, I see where you actually have 4 links there. Still, they don't support your claim, and simply affirm what I said in my answer. They all have the same problem, they are confused and think "Fulfilled by Amazon" is some sort of mark of quality. My answer makes clear why that is not so. FBA only describes how it's it does not change the fact that Amazon Marketplace sellers are shady, and hey are definitely not Amazon Proper. To repeat, Fulfilled by Amazon IS NOT Amazon Proper. You realize this, yes?

Sep 26, 2018 at 8:08 comment added Harper - Reinstate Monica @Johnny interesting and disturbing. Sounds like they are "borrowing" a SKU from a Marketplace seller if she has one in the right warehouse and they do not, then presumably making an Amazon-owned unit in a different warehouse belong to the seller. Would prefer better sourcing than Forbes though.
Sep 26, 2018 at 6:45 comment added Belle @Hashim If you'll take personal experience as a source: My mother worked in administration for one of those mail order businesses that preceded webshops in the 90s-00s. She can confirm for you that those boxes exist. There was a shop in a nearby town they often sent stuff to. I don't think it's a stretch to assume they're getting sold on Ebay now.
Sep 26, 2018 at 6:00 comment added Fake Name If you buy an item from Amazon Proper, meaning "Sold by and shipped from Amazon.com", you are nearly guaranteed a genuine, legal product licensed for sale in this country. Uh, no, no, no, no.

Sep 26, 2018 at 5:51 comment added Harper - Reinstate Monica @hashim because I misstated it as "returned defective". Actually, there are just "go-backs": stores do not even bother making a distinction between an "unwanted" item or a defective one when they throw it in the bin. That is fair since 90% of the time when a user claims it is defective, he is lying to get an unjustified return, or he misapplied it, or didn't figure out how to use it, nothing wrong with the item. Stores simply don't have time to care. I'm not sure how I can "prove a negative" here. The ebay reseller of the item is meant to give it a test, and they do largely.
Sep 26, 2018 at 4:57 comment added Johnny Buying "Fulfilled by Amazon" products is no assurance of getting a legit product thanks to comingled inventory where resellers send their product to a local Amazon warehouse, and Amazon adds it to their general inventory and may sell it as "Amazon Fulfilled" even if the product came from that reseller and not a legit source.
Sep 26, 2018 at 1:27 comment added Hashim Aziz Do you have anything to substantiate the first paragraph of your answer? That such practices are commonplace on eBay is a fairly big claim to make, and has huge implications if true. The YouTube video you linked to is about liquidation stock, and says nothing of reselling defective items.

Sep 25, 2018 at 18:29 comment added AnoE "The contrast in price between ePacket and Amazon Fulfillment Services is enough to give you whiplash" Too true. In Germany, I can pick up the usual small electronics (chips etc.) from China, including shipment, for (far) less than it would cost me to post a small parcel to my neighbour city. I understand the logistics up to and including the large container-based shipping, but I don't understand how the last leg (inside my national delivery system) is seemingly working for free...
