Michael's Health Insurance and Medicare 101 workshops have been hosted by 18th Street Arts Center, Armory Center for the Arts, Avenue 50 Studio, The California Endowment, California Lawyers for the Arts, Cancer Support Community-Benjamin Center, LA Art Park, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park, Outpost for Contemporary Arts, and Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects.
During a 20 year career in higher education Michael taught recording engineering at UCLA Extension, The Art Institute, Santa Ana College, Citrus College, and Fullerton College. Michael is a founding member of musical groups Transcendental Choo-Choo, California Avant Garde Ensemble, Running with Scissors, Reduced Listening Ensemble, Stick Probing Commune, and rock band Dynamo Hum.
He earned a bachelor degree in classical guitar performance, and a master's in music theory/composition from California State University, Fullerton. Michael is married to artist Mara Lonner, sharing their Los Angeles home with rescue dogs and managerie of crows, flocks of finches, occasional hawks, crane flys, and beloved orb web spinners.
