From my understanding, owning commodity ETFs has the potential to invoke headache when it comes to filing tax in the US. I wonder if anyone here has the experience of comparing tax-filing software and tax-filing professional regarding handling the tax complexity of commodity ETFs.

  • I've used tax filing software (US) for equities. Very accurate, especially with wash sales and wash sale carryovers. They offer a module for commodities but I don't know much about that area. What is a "tax-filing real-agent" ? – Bob Baerker Dec 6 at 13:06
  • Thanks ! The question was edited to indicate the US as the country I was talking about and to respond to the confusion of tax-agent – B Chen Dec 6 at 15:20
