Jul 19, 2017 at 15:01 comment added quid @dberm22, it's rare that that scheme works anymore. These points churners find ways, but remember, it's not uncommon for your account to be closed for playing these games. Another good one involved 3 people doing merry-go-round payments to eachother's amazon payments accounts (amazon has closed the program entirely).
Jul 19, 2017 at 12:21 comment added dberm22 Purchasing $500 visa gift cards is an interesting prospect. $15 easy dollars in your pocket. Even if you have to pay $5 for the card itself, that's a decent profit. Though it doesn't seem like this scales very well.
Jul 19, 2017 at 11:27 comment added Joe S @RossRidge I can, I just wanted to know if there was a way to do it and still use the credit card for the rewards program.
Jul 18, 2017 at 19:29 comment added stannius Note that if your reason for buying treasury $1 coins is to spend them at local businesses, that is (was?) within the terms and purpose of the treasury program.
Jul 18, 2017 at 19:29 comment added Ross Ridge @JoeS You can't get cash with your debit card?
Jul 18, 2017 at 17:18 comment added quid It's inadvisable to churn CC points primarily because it goes against your cardmember agreement, and in the case of the US treasury $1 coins, it also went against the terms of the treasury program and a delayed shipment could result in interest charges. It's not uncommon for CC issuers to rescind points and close accounts on points churners.
Jul 18, 2017 at 17:13 comment added Joe S Why would you say it is inadvisable? The reason I need cash is I live in a poor area and most local businesses do not take cards as payment.
